My coursework covered a broad range of topics related to language. As someone who has always been focused on fine-tuning characters’ voices, linguistics helped me understand how and why people speak with each other the way they do.

From the sociological factors which cause us to subtly change our voices without realizing, to the branching family trees of languages which reflect thousands of years of human migrations, my education has taught me about the importance of nuance in the linguistic backgrounds of characters.
